+852 street trove

Do you know the feeling of being overwhelmed by tumult but suddenly seeing a treasure between the cracks?  You’re not sure other people see the treasure so you bask in the joy of the discovery. Finding beauty where you expect it is one thing, but this treasure is all the more valuable because it’s so unexpected.

After a decade of moving from one chaotic city to the next, from Cairo to Guangzhou to Hong Kong, I have developed the skill of uncovering peace and beauty. I am attuned now to the images that uplift me and these are found in the everyday.

Instead of longing for things that aren’t there, I’ve allowed my senses to tune in to the raw rhythms and patterns I encounter – art in the boldness of ordinary things. Within the deterioration that characterises Hong Kong’s back streets, I’ve found inspiration in the unexpected order and textural treasure of urban rhythms.
